How to raise $250 in 7 days
Register for the Walk
Take the first step by registering for the Walk in a location near you. By participating, you are showing your community that they matter and calling attention to this cause.
Day 1: Share Your Story
Start by sharing why you Walk in a ~1 minute video on your fundraising page and social media. Share why you’re choosing to participate in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope and use the hashtag #WhyIWalk to reach a wider audience. People are more likely to donate when they understand the personal significance.
Examale Post:
"Ovarian cancer has deeply affected [me/my family/my community], and I'm participating in the Walk of Hope to [raise funds/awareness/advocate for change]. Please help me reach my goal of $250 to support critical research and care. Any amount helps! [Donation Link]"
Day 2 The $10 Challenge
Challenge your friends and family to donate $10 each. Explain that if just 25 people donate $10, you'll reach your goal in no time. Offer to do something fun or silly if you meet your daily mini-goals.
Example Post:
"I'm challenging 25 friends to donate $10 each to help me reach my $250 goal for the Walk of Hope! Together, we can make ovarian cancer unignorable in 2024. Donate here: [Donation Link]"
Day 3-4 Progress Update and Self-Donation
Update everyone on your progress and make a self-donation to show your commitment. Share how much you've raised so far and encourage others to help you close the gap.
Example Post:
"Thanks to your generosity, I've raised $100 so far! To show my commitment, I've just donated $25 myself. Can you help me reach my $250 goal? Every dollar counts! [Donation Link]"
Day 5: Use Your Network
Reach out to colleagues, extended family, and community groups you're part of. Send personalized messages explaining your cause and asking for their support.
Example Message:
"Hi [Name], I'm participating in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope on September 8, 2024 to raise funds for research and support initiatives across Canada. Can you help me reach my $250 goal with a donation? Every bit helps, and I'd be grateful for your support. [Donation Link]"
Day 6-7: Final Push and Thank You
Make a final push to reach your goal. Emphasize how close you are and thank everyone who has already donated. Share your excitement and appreciation.
Example Post:
"We're almost there! Only $50 to go to reach my $250 goal for the Walk of Hope. A huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far! If you haven't yet, there's still time to make a difference. Let's do this together! [Donation Link]"

Everyone born with ovaries is at risk for ovarian cancer. It is the most fatal women’s cancer, and the reality is that every 5 hours, we lose someone we love to ovarian cancer in Canada. We have the power to deliver change and transform lives and that’s why I am participating in the 2024 OCC #WalkofHope on Sunday, September 8.
This cause is close to my heart, and I greatly appreciate any support you can show for my Walk by donating here: [Insert Fundraising Page Link]

An ambitious fundraising goal shows people your level of commitment to this important cause. Potential donors want to see you succeed and setting your sights high will motivate them even more.
