I am participating in the Beau's 5K for Ovarian Cancer Canada, a fundraising event in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada.
This year, I will run to raise funds to advance progress against ovarian cancer – the most fatal women’s cancer in Canada. Funds raised will power vital research that can change the face of this disease, provide support and education programs to those who need them most, and fuel advocacy efforts across the country.
My wife Nancy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the summer of 2015 and passed away on August 8, 2021. Her mother Joyce was also a victim of the same type of ovarian cancer some 25 years earlier. But while Joyce survived a very short time with her cancer, advances in research and treatment gave Nancy and I six extra and precious years together.
I hope that fundraising efforts like this can continue to extend the lifetimes of women diagnosed with ovarian cancers, if not find a cure for this terrible disease.
Join us to ignite change, we can’t do this alone. Please donate to support me.
Thank you for your generous support.
John
