I am participating in the Run for Her in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada, a fundraising trail run in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer.
Approximately 3,100 Canadians are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. Five Canadians are lost to the disease every day. As you may know, my great friend Karen was diagnosed with this terrible disease just over 5.5 years ago. This gutted all of us who know her. Let's work together to help find better diagnosis, more successful treatments and help to eradicate this disease.
One out of every two people diagnosed with this disease isn’t expected to live to see another five years. The funds we raise for Ovarian Cancer Canada help champion the health and wellbeing of women living with and at risk of the disease, while advancing research to save lives.
Funds raised at the Run for Her for Ovarian Cancer Canada will be used to help build research capacity, unlock insights into rarer forms of the disease, address urgent needs and bring hope to people across the country.
