I'm participating in the Beau's 5K for Ovarian Cancer Canada, a fundraising run (and/or walk) in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada. I'll be running 10km, which is a second lap along the trail!
Whether it's ovarian cancer, or any other type, everybody knows someone who's been stricken by this disease, probably several people. In my case, some of my loved ones survived, while others weren't so fortunate. And of course cancer treatment is hard on friends and family as well.
Still, when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, a cancer diagnosis was considered terminal, the end of the line. This is absolutely not true any more, so there has been progress, and there is hope for the future.
Funds raised by this run will be used not only for research grants and programs, but also to support OCC's resources for women living with the disease, in addition to those vital education and awareness programs.
Anything you can donate will of course be gratefully received. In lieu of that, encouragement and well-wishes, whether expressed to me personally or felt but unvoiced, are likewise very much appreciated.
Thanks,
t!
