During our run of Mamma Mia, we are proud to partner with Ovarian Cancer Canada to raise both funds and awareness for this devastating disease. Throughout the production, we will be selling fun, themed sunglasses, with 100% of proceeds going directly toward ovarian cancer research, education, and patient support.
Ovarian cancer remains one of the most serious cancers affecting women in Canada. Each year, approximately 3,100 Canadians are diagnosed, and about 2,000 will lose their lives to the disease. The overall five-year survival rate is only about 44%, largely because ovarian cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, when symptoms are subtle and no reliable screening test exists.
This cause is deeply personal to me. I lost my mother to ovarian cancer almost 12 years ago. Growing up, we spent countless hours singing along to ABBA together, and Mamma Mia was the very first musical she ever took me to see. Being part of this production now feels like a full-circle moment, one filled with love, memory, and purpose. Supporting this cause through a show that meant so much to us both is incredibly meaningful, and a way to honour her while helping other families facing this disease.
By raising awareness, funding research, and supporting those affected, we hope to contribute to earlier detection, better treatments, and ultimately a future where fewer families experience this loss.
Thank you for helping us turn music, community, and joy into hope.
