On June 8th, I am participating in my 3rd running of the Beau's 5K for Ovarian Cancer Canada, a fundraising walk and run in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer. 

Approximately 3,000 Canadians are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year.  Five Canadians are lost to the disease every day.  One out of every two people diagnosed with this disease isn’t expected to live to see another five years. The funds we raise for Ovarian Cancer Canada help champion the health and wellbeing of women living with and at risk of the disease, while advancing research to save lives.

While I have lost relatives to ovarian cancer, I chose to do this run because of  what it represents - an opportunity to help women and families who are impacted by this disease. By advancing the research, we can achieve best outcomes for women suffering from the illness and their families.
