Hanta, a dynamic woman with a passion for sport, saw her life turned upside down when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Following two major surgeries to remove the tumor, she is now undergoing chemotherapy treatments with remarkable courage and resilience. Throughout this difficult journey, she has been able to count on the unwavering support of her husband, Valentino.
Valentino, who had never run before, decided to take up running to support his wife and honour all women affected by this disease. Inspired by Hanta's strength, he started running in June 2024, with the aim of taking part in three 5 km races in Canada before the end of the year. He completed a 5 km run on Sunday August 11 in Mont-Tremblant, as part of the Mont-Tremblant Half-Marathon. His next running events will be at the Ovarian Cancer Canada's Walk of Hope on September 8 and the Sunlife Marathon in Granby on October 6.
Every stride by Valentino is a tribute to women diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and a demonstration of his love and support for Hanta. Together, they aim to raise public awareness of this cause and encourage women to take care of their health and self-advocate for better care.
Together, Hanta and Valentino show incredible resilience and unconditional support. They remind us of the importance of fighting for those we love and raising awareness of causes that impact us all. Join them in their fundraising and show your support for all people impacted by ovarian cancer.
By fundraising in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada, we are standing hand-in-hand with the people experiencing, affected by, or at risk of the disease. And we will not rest until women are able to live their lives freely, fully, and uninhibited by ovarian cancer. All proceeds support OCC, the only national charity dedicated to eradicating this disease. OCC is improving outcomes and changing the face of this disease – for good. And your donations will fuel vital research, advocacy efforts, and education and support programs.
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer. We know that ovarian cancer remains the most fatal women’s cancer in Canada and of the 3,000 women diagnosed annually more than half will not live 5 years past diagnosis. But we are on the cusp of breakthroughs that can change that.
You can help ignite change. Please support this event with a generous donation.
