By fundraising in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada, I am raising awareness & supporting research & education around this disease which has been my path to walk since July 2023. I want there to be a future where those with ovaries are able to live free, full & uninhibited lives without worry of this cancer blindsiding them as it has me & my loved ones. The doctor who told me my diagnosis said, "You're awfully young to have this kind of cancer...." as I do not fit the post-menopausal profile that is typical.
I would like to make this an annual walk/run as I feel my own journey with this disease will be a long one. Walking kept me going during the dark days of winter last year & having a meaningful event my friends & family can support makes everyone feel better (Nevermind the benefit of seeing people in person!)
Proceeds will support OCC, the only Canadian national charity dedicated to eradicating this disease. OCC is improving outcomes & changing the face of ovarian cancer. Your donations will fuel vital research, advocacy efforts, education & support programs.
Today, 1000s of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer. We know that ovarian cancer remains the most fatal womenâ€s cancer in Canada & of the 3,000 women diagnosed annually more than half will not live 5 years past diagnosis. With OCC funds, researchers are on the cusp of breakthroughs that can change that.
