This year is my 2nd year living in Vankleek Hill. Since the first day everyone has been so welcoming and kind. This town is a special place. One of the things that makes it special is the fundraising we do. The Beau's 5k for Ovarian Cancer has raised 205,000 since its beginning 6 years ago. The race was inspired by a local woman name Ashley Cowan, and is held every year in her honour. This year I will be walking up Vankleek Hill for all 5km to represent the uphill battle that is fighting cancer. Jen will be running a 5k. Then we will 3 legged walk our 2nd 5k, together. Hopefully, we’re still engaged by the end of the walk.
