Go for Glo
Welcome to the Go for Glo team page. This is our tenth year participating in the Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope in Halifax. It's hard to believe that it has been this long already. Over the past nine years, our small but mighty team has raised over $10,190! Thank you so much for your support in previous years.
We are asking for your support again this year as we get ready for the walk on Sunday, September 10th.
We are walking for my mom, Gloria Dean, who we lost to Ovarian Cancer in May of 2017 after a 4 year courageous battle. My mom faced this cancer with strength and dignity, and she lives in our hearts forever. Our motto for the run is "Go for Glo".
I am walking because raising money to find a cure is what my mom wanted. She went door to door each year even though she herself was very sick. Ovarian cancer affects so many families. It’s certainly touched my family's life, and it needs to be stopped. Better detection methods need to be found to help the many women who learn of this diagnosis too late.
This walk is special to me because it honours women and families affected by ovarian cancer and celebrates the hope that I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease. In Canada today, there are 17,000 women living with Ovarian Cancer.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness and fund vital research.
Please consider donating to my Walk or register to join me! It means the world to me, and everyone affected by this disease.
Thank you so much for your support!
