Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. But today - we are paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.

In 2015 we lost my mom after her battle with cancer. She was an incredible woman that made a positive difference in so many people’s lives. She listened to other people’s stories and was accepting of the journey that each took. Those that met her were lucky to have known the genuine person she was.

In 2010 mom was invited to join a fishing trip where they would spend several days camping and fishing. Mom loved to be outside and connect with nature. Mom was excited about this trip and spending time fishing that she pushed through the sick feeling she had. But after the first day, she was extremely tired and so sick that she couldn't continue to fish and instead spend all her time resting in camp. After seeing her doctor, mom was provided with a devastating diagnosis. She had cancer that had an average life expectancy of three years. The research and medicine had not advanced enough to provide more than that.

Let’s raise the teal flag and show our support for the women and families affected by ovarian cancer. Together, our fundraising and participation in the Walk will spur advocacy efforts to provide the best possible care, further scientific progress, and ensure that all those diagnosed know that they are not alone. 

Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada; the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.

The economy is not as good as we would like, and everyone has felt the pressure of inflation. Cancer has not taken a break over these last few years and doesn't care about the cost of gas. So I am asking for you to donate what you can to help others who have a longer battle than mom.
