Welcome to Jess's Personal Page
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year.
My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in June 2021. She did her 6 months of treatment and had surgery in January. Less than a week after surgery, she developed a vicious infection that was introduced to her body during the surgery. In 28 hours, she had left our world.
After reading more and more about the disease, she had symptoms of ovarian cancer for 4 or 5 years at least. Like most women’s stories, they had been misdiagnosed and brushed off, leaving the disease to grow and fester. Like so many women, I wonder how much the outcome could have been different had she been investigated and diagnosed years earlier at the first signs of symptoms.
My mom was a warrior, ready for battle. Her fight got cut short. I’m joining the fight for her now to raise money to help other women who can have a fighting chance.
