Emma's Story
She was just 22 years old at diagnosis. We've named this summer the 'summer of recovery' for her. A break from the hospital before follow-up appointments begin. She's going back to university this fall to complete her degree. She's getting stronger every day and even getting a little hair back - which she hopes is curly!
We learned a lot through this process and a few things stuck with us. The survival rates for those diagnosed with ovarian cancer have not changed in decades! Also, when you donate to the Cancer Society of Canada it truly is a general fund. If there are no current or future promising research projects in the works for ovarian cancer, your money will never get there. And that's fair. What we learned was when you donate for ovarian cancer research it has to be through Ovarian Cancer Canada.
Thank you for your support.
