Hi I'm Andrea, a mom, wife, and (it still shocks me to say) an ovarian cancer survivor.
When I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020, I was in shock. Today, I am still am—not only from disbelief that it happened to me, but from being one of the few who caught it early, Stage 1. An terrifying rarity.
This year is huge—we're marking my Team’s fourth year in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
Four years, or as we call it, an 'Olympics' of Time—48 months,1,460 days, 35040 hours packed with resilience, hope, and sheer #$@&%*! determination.
It's apt because women with ovarian cancer face a daily battle that rivals an Olympic marathon. It's a greuling circuit of treatments, doctor visits, and living in the suspense of scan results. It's wrestling with chemotherapy fatigue, test-result anxiety, and the heart-wrenching sacrifice of missed moments with loved ones. In remission, the fight isn't over. The fear of a comeback and managing lingering side effects are constant companions.
Our team, Teal Good Inc., is walking to change this. We have to.
In 2020, our incredible team raised over $15,000, and we are determined to surpass that milestone this year. Every dollar raised funds crucial research and improves health outcomes for women facing ovarian cancer. Together, we can make a real difference.
Join us in this Olympic fight that never ends. Let's walk together, share our stories, and inspire hope. Your support means the world to us, and every dollar you give brings us closer to a world where where ovarian cancer isn’t a death sentence and no one faces this brutal disease alone.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
Gratefully and hopefully,
Andrea
