This journey has not been an easy one. Aside from the obvious setbacks, I have found myself leading the charge in my own care on more than one occasion. I have been the one to request ct scans. I have had to do my own research and bring treatment options to the table. I have had to push for second (and third) opinions and not be intimidated by the white coats. I have had to be the difficult, irrational woman who ‘just doesn’t understand’ and I have had to be ok with that.

This walk is important for so many reasons but especially because I have heard too many stories now of symptoms not being taken seriously or the lack of follow up care provided and it’s not ok. I’m raising money for more research, more advocacy and the hopes that the next woman to be diagnosed with this rare cancer has an easier time than I did accessing care.
