WHY I'M WALKING
I'm walking to support Jenn and the thousands of Canadians living with ovarian cancer on their journeys.
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,000 will be diagnosed this year. Our team is determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, we’re funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
The next big breakthrough in ovarian cancer is around the corner. Please donate to our team or join us! We welcome new members, there’s strength in numbers! Together, we can improve outcomes – for good. Thank you for your support. It means the world to us, and everyone affected by this disease.
ABOUT OUR TEAM NAME
In 2004 when Jenn walked the Camino de Santiago, she learned the phrase "Ultreya”, a term associated with the Camino that can be loosely translated to mean "onward" or "keep going". After the Camino, Jenn learned that “Ultreya” can also mean, “Moving forward with courage”.
In the context of the Camino, "Ultreya" serves as an encouragement for pilgrims to continue their journey, no matter the physical, emotional, or spiritual challenges they encounter along the way. It is in this spirit that we have chosen Team Ultreya! as our team name for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
