Each year, approximately 3000 Canadians are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Half of them won't live to see another 5 years. It is the most fatal women's cancer, and the reality is that every 5 hours, we lose someone we love to ovarian cancer in Canada.
It's time to accelerate progress against ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease. As you know, this cause is close to my heart. I was diagnosed with Stage 4b Ovarian cancer, high-grade serous, on September 6 2023. My cancer journey is ongoing.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, I’m making ovarian cancer a priority. I'm funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease. (Donations over $20.00 will automatically receive official tax receipts.) Furthermore, until September 8, every dollar raised or donated will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by Karen Greve Young, a Walk of Hope participant and Chair of the OCC Board. Karen is committing $20,000 in memory of her mother, to ensure that we can continue to fund leading ovarian cancer research. (Donations made online between 12:01 am on August 28 and 11:59 pm on September 8 will be matched, up to $20,000. )
