Henny is our Hero
I walk in honour of, and with the motivation and inspiration of my Mom, Hendrika (Henny) Schmid, who died from ovarian cancer at the age of 66 in 2010. We lost a cherished rock star Mom, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and most of us have never fully recovered.
Cancer sucks, and especially one that is almost always first diagnosed when it is already advanced and the prognosis is terminal in the relatively short term.
Like my Mom, let's be passionate about what matters most, and to making a real difference in the lives of friends and family.
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. It's time to accelerate progress against ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, I’m making ovarian cancer a priority. I'm funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
The next big breakthrough in ovarian cancer is around the corner. Please donate to my Walk now or sign up to join me because there simply isn’t time to wait. Together, we can improve outcomes – for good.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to me, and everyone affected by this disease.
