Our Story
Team Christa My Sista
She is strong. She is brave. She is kind. She is thoughtful. She is funny. She is silly. She is loving. She is courageous. She is hopeful. She is encouraging. She is creative. She is outdoorsy. She is a teacher. She is a hiker. She is a wife. She is a daughter. She is an auntie. She is a friend. She is Christa my Sista.
Our team is composed of family and friends of Christa Svenson who lived with ovarian cancer for four years until her passing on April 2, 2023. This year we participate in the Walk of Hope in remembrance of her, and in celebration of her courage, positivity, and faith. We walk together to support all those Teal Sisters and unite our hope that one day there will be a cure.
Christa was never one to choose the spotlight but usually went about in her quiet way to bless others for good. In previous years she raised awareness and money for Ovarian Cancer Canada in an effort to contribute to support programs for women living with cancer and to fund research so that they could live fuller, longer lives.
This is Christa’s Story:
“In March 2019 my life completely changed when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. That spring and fall I went through chemotherapy treatments and surgery. In March 2020 the cancer reoccurred. Since then, I have been in and out of chemo treatments and continue to live with this disease today. It’s been an ongoing journey with lots of ups and downs, but life is good. I am grateful for the treatments that I have been able to receive, and I hope that one day there will be a cure. Thank you to my family and friends who have supported me through this journey especially my husband Dan.” - Christa
Please provide your support by joining our Team and walk with us on Sunday, September 8, 2024 and/or giving generously. Together we can make a difference.
