Welcome to Della Stevens personal page! Be sure to check out my team page "Della and the Teal-ers"
This walk WAS a personal crusade for me .
Now I share it with my daughter who is also fighting Ovarian Cancer. Me being a BRCA-1 carrier I have passed this mutated gene onto my daughter Cassandra.
December 24, 2020 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, later February 1, 2021 she was then diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. Both being stage 4. She has had major surgery and extensive chemo.
She is fighting for her life!!!! With the help of drug research Cassandra has been access to a new drug that has made a drastic change in her health.....for the better.
Bringing Cassandra's journey up to date, she has under gone radation which obliterated a tumor hidden behind her kidney. Things are changing for Sandy and we don't know what the future holds. We continue to pray.
My fight is for her.
I myself I am a Survivor of Ovarian Cancer.
Here's my story.
My fight started in December 24, 2016 when I was first diagnosed with stage 1, grade 3 Ovarian Cancer. February of 2017, a major surgery, then 6 - 3 week cycles of Chemo.
My last chemo was the end of July 2017 and I am doing well, it has been 6 years since my has been disease active. I owe my life, my health to the research that is constantly on going.
With faith and perseverance I will continue to do so.
Since this journey started for me I have lost a number of close friends, ladies I have laughed with, cried with and fought this disease with.
Please help me continue to fight!
I am raising funds towards the walk and am reaching out for donations.
Thank you in advance for your kindness.
Today, thousands of Canadian women are living with ovarian cancer and another 2,800 will be diagnosed this year.
Each of these women is central to a family. Every one of these women has people who love her. Just being there to support and honour her means everything. That’s why I’m participating with thousands of others at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope.
The Walk celebrates the hope I carry with me every day – the hope for a future without this disease.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity entirely dedicated to this important cause. Funds will be used to provide support, increase awareness, and fund vital research so that we can change the future for the women we love.
Any amount no matter how big or small will help to make a difference towards research.
Please provide your support by giving generously. Better yet, if you are up for a challenge this September, come out and join me. Together we can make a difference.
