Welcome to My Personal Page
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. But today - we are paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.
Let’s raise the teal flag and show our support for the women and families affected by ovarian cancer. Together, our fundraising and participation in the Walk will spur advocacy efforts to provide the best possible care, further scientific progress, and ensure that all those diagnosed know that they are not alone. This year, I attended my first Ovarian Cancer Canada Symposium in Halifax. I discovered that although I do not have the BRCA 1 and 2 gene, I could have passed on several other ovarian cancer genes to my children, who could then pass them on to my grand children and great grandchildren and so forth. My heart sank.
The progress shared by OCC over the past few years blew me away. OCC has made great strides toward earlier detection of this disease leading to better outcomes for those diagnosed. Treatments are now focused on the type of Ovarian Cancer, again leading to more women beating this disease. Dalhousie University researcher, Dr. Jeanette Boudreau's team is designing natural killer cells that target Ovarian Cancer cells for the best therapy possible for our Teal Sisters. All of this is possible because of you, our gracious donors.
That’s why I’m joining the thousands of other participants at the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope. Precious lives depend on it, and the community deserves it. This year I am walking with a great group of people. If you are interested in walking with me, sign up! I would love for you to be there!
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
Every step and every dollar create a brighter future for those affected by ovarian cancer. If you cannot come out and walk with me on Sept 8th, please consider donating to my Walk!
Thank you for your support. It means the world to me, and everyone affected by this disease.
