My first Walk of Hope
The Walk of Hope in Halifax took place along the lovely waterfront on a windy Sunday morning. All of the Teal Sisters (ovarian cancer survivors) wore our teal t-shirts, and we each received a beautiful, freshly cut sunflower before we led the way in the Walk. I briefly got to chat with some fellow Teal Sisters I'd met at other OCC events, and my wonderful oncologist was there with her three young children. A long-time friend who now lives in Halifax walked with me. For me, the day was very moving, and seeing and feeling so much support was empowering.
Every donation on my donor wall means a lot to me, but the gifts from fellow cancer survivors are especially poignant. Your support reminds me that I'm not alone.
I was thrilled to surpass my initial fundraising goal of $1,000 so quickly, and thrilled again when I surpassed by second goal, ultimately raising $1,600. I hope to surpass an even more ambitious goal next year with your help.
