Black Eyed Susans
In 2006, Susan Collette Nevardauskis lost her multi-year battle to Ovarian cancer. She was just shy of her 41st birthday. Leaving behind 2 teenage girls, Candis & Alyssa.
They watched her bravery, and strength as she fought for what every cancer patient wishes to hear, "you beat cancer." After a year in remission, her cancer returned and she ultimately passed.
Through the love, and support of their friends and family, Candis & Alyssa learned to carry on, but not without a huge hole in their heart that would never fully heal. They vowed to keep doing this walk in her honour to help raise money so more families don't have to experience the same heartbreak. This team, named after her, is comprised of friends and loved ones.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, we’re making ovarian cancer a priority. We’re funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar we raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
The next big breakthrough in ovarian cancer is around the corner. Please donate to our team or join us! We welcome new members, there’s strength in numbers! Together, we can improve outcomes – for good.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to us, and everyone affected by this disease.
