My Story & Ovarian Cancer advocacy
"Finding out I am a BRCA1 mutation carrier has opened my eyes, not only to the preventive measures I could undertake to reduce my ovarian cancer risk, but also in the way that knowledge is power, and I can better advocate for myself and my children. I’m grateful to say that at 40 years old I can live much more worry free now that I’ve undergone both a risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy and mastectomy. Prevention begins with awareness, which is why I am proud to be a member of the Prevention Task Force to share my experience and drive prevention research forward!"
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. It's time to accelerate progress against ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, I’m making ovarian cancer a priority. I'm funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
The next big breakthrough in ovarian cancer is around the corner. Please donate to my Walk now or sign up to join me because there simply isn’t time to wait. Together, we can improve outcomes – for good.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to me, and everyone affected by this disease.
