Hope for better outcomes comes with determination!
It has been almost 5 years since I was taking a nap, massaging my sore left hip when my hand moved midline and I felt a hardness in my abdomen. Within 2 weeks I had a planned CT, ultrasound and bloodwork that indicated it was likely ovarian cancer. IT was Stage 3c. It's been almost 4 years since my last chemo treatment.
Did you know that Ovarian Cancer outcomes have not changed in 50 years? Breast Cancer and Prostate cancer have improved drastically. Today, thousands of women are living with this disease and many more are diagnosed each year. Post five year survival rates continue to remain around 50 percent. This isn't acceptable. Research, advocacy and education must be a priority.
By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, I’m making ovarian cancer a priority. I'm funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.
Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
