Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,000 will be diagnosed this year. It’s time to pick up the pace for ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.

 
If you're on this page- you might know my story, but for those that don't, in June of 2016, at the age of 56 my mom had a pretty massive cyst on her ovary removed and what we thought was the end of her journey with a pesky dermoid cyst was in actuality just the start of our journey with cancer, in the months to come she was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma that resulted from an Ovarian Teratoma and unfortunately passed away in November of that year. 

My mom was an unassuming force. She was physically small, but could not be described as weak in any sense of the word. She cared deeply for those in her circle and would do absolutely anything for those people. She was also incredibly active and doing something active feels like something she would have loved. 7 years later and I still miss her each and every day. In the time that she has passed, I have gotten engaged, then married, and had my beautiful daughter. I'm participating in this walk in the hopes that less people have to experience big (and small) life events missing someone. 

By participating and fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope, I’m making ovarian cancer a priority. I'm funding vital research that will save lives, ensuring educational resources and support programs are available for those who need it, and fueling advocacy efforts because everyone deserves to live life to the fullest.

 

Every dollar I raise supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming this disease.
