In 2017 dear young Amy was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and lost her fight in April of 2020. Ames was a loyal, dedicated friend and a loved family member. Amy was such a special person and is is missed daily.
Amy was involved in her community, sports, friends and family. She was was working as a Security guard and loved her job. I will always remember something she said to me during her treatment "I cannot wait to get back to work." Since then I always think about the things in life that I "get" to do. I get to go to work. I get to see my family. I get to make dinner. I get to have fun with friends. I get to do the dishes. I get to live my life. It changed my perspective in many ways forever. Amy had an impact in so many peoples lives, just like she did for me too.
Today, thousands of Canadians are living with ovarian cancer and approximately 3,100 will be diagnosed this year. It's time to accelerate progress against ovarian cancer. Enough is enough and I’m determined to improve outcomes for all those affected by the disease.
