The Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is the largest and most powerful event of its kind in Canada. It’s the only walk in the country that is solely dedicated to transforming the lives of those facing ovarian cancer, improving the reality of life with the disease, and working towards a future in which the disease is ultimately eradicated.
It fuels progress. Held annually during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, this family-friendly event has raised over $34 million, funding innovative Canadian research, crucial support resources, and advocacy efforts that are changing the ovarian cancer landscape across the country. We have hope for the future, because we are taking action today.
In 2002, Peggy Truscott started a movement that would touch lives for generations to come. With truckloads of sunflowers and a community of women, she launched the first OCC Walk of Hope in Toronto, Ontario. Her hope ignited powerful action that would grow to span from coast to coast.
Sunflowers: a symbol of hope and resilience
For many women facing ovarian cancer, sunflowers represent the positivity and strength they embody in their journey. With its tendency to face the sun, known as heliotropism, the sunflower mirrors the determination to seek hope and life-transforming opportunities that many women have.
